St. John's Cathedral Choir

The music ministry at the Cathedral seeks to fill every heart with the sound of God's peace and joy. Through the finest music of several centuries the musicians of the Cathedral provide an ever expanding vocabulary to proclaim God's eternal message.
Careful preparation and rehearsals by the choral musicians of the Cathedral support our commitment to offer our fullest and most enriching praise to God in the highest. The repertoire of the Cathedral choirs ranges from Gregorian chant and massesof Palestrina to works commissioned by the Cathedral from the leading composers of today. The music of composers such as Bach, Britten, Faure, Mozart, Palestrina, Purcell, Tallis and Tavener are characteristic of the high quality of music offered each week in the Cathedral.
The Cathedral Choir is recognized as one of the finest choral ensembles in the region. In addition to Sunday morning responsibilities, the Cathedral Choir also sings for monthly services of Choral Evensong and on major feasts. In 2006 the Cathedral Choir undertook an East Coast tour, singing the Sunday Choral Eucharist as St. Thomas' Church, Fifth Avenue, New York City, and two services of Choral Evensong at Washington National Cathedral.
In 2007, they toured to the United Kingdom, with week-long residencies at St. George's Chapel, Windsor, and Canterbury Cathedral. The Cathedral Choir participates in the Cathedral Commissions program.
